Fields

Pretty sure maybe one person reads this blog, but for that one or two people, go here:
www.myspace.com/fieldsdrone

You can get the full recording of Fields which is a side project created and inspired by Daniel Kraus. Daniel wrote music not only for this but for Admiral Angry and after leaving this world last year wrote the untitled track. The other tracks were inspired by the untitled track and written for Daniel.

If you like heavy and atmosphere, then stop reading this and go get it. The recording was done by Brian Etheridge whom is the bass player in this snakes alive band. The recordings sound really good and I feel that Brian is really getting good at this recording stuff.

our next show

music is all there is, except bills and having to eat and all that other stuff that goes on before 8pm at the relax bar on friday and saturday nights

the other day i took my 5 year old to the mall so he could play while the wife went around wandering. i find it crazy that at that age, a kid can play with another kid even if they don't speak the same language, look the same, believe in the same things or anything. they want to climb then jump off stuff together, period. that's what's fun. then you grow up and everythings a waste of time. mind games (acceptance/barriers/success), trouble, stress, feeble importance,,,

oh well, i have my 5 year old for conversation and the barbaric pounding of a musical instrument for now

another dumb ad near my work...

Not really a perfectionist, i don't have OCD or anything and normally i just don't care, but come on, no one could tell the guy he's holding the guitar completely wrong?

slight surface noise

More record memories, I found this record somewhere and bought it. I used to skateboard to Record Outlet, purchase a record with whatever money i stole from my mom's purse or my mom/step fathers coke bottle full of change. It was easier buying a 3 to 5 dollar record with change rather then skate to tower and buy a CD.

I might have found this record called Slight Surface Noise at Record Outlet or bought it off one of the bands I saw. I can't remember honestly, I just remember getting destroyed after putting it on and all my friends wanted to borrow it.

I can't even find any information on the album, can't find any pictures of it. All I know is it's distributed by K records which was one of my favorites along with kill rock stars growing up. I also know that it was recorded by Steve Albini and the drums sound massive as usual. Those were the two reasons I bought the record in the first place.

I honestly keep writing about the records because I have to sit here as I record the songs. Any ways... more coming most likely.

More on slight surface noise. First of all, here is a bandsite:
http://www.worshipguitars.org/bands/ssn.html
pretty informative.

They basically sound like Shellac with unwound and fugazi together. The songs build up to screaming and go from minimalist to abrasive. The album was recorded in 1996, 2 years after Shellac released Action Park. One song is called 'i fucked your mom last night'.

no work, record shopping, writing more music

Digging through my records, I found Mary Timony's Mountains. I remember being one of the very few to see her play this album at the Troubador and I brought my future wife who barely knew me. I was a big fan of Helium growing up, especially the no guitars ep when they went all medieval. I bought the album off her with cash and about a dollar or two in change cause that's all I had. Man, this album will now be on heavy rotation especially the song 'the bell' with it's epic ending. She is definitely a better guitar play then me. I only wish I had her sign it.

Heading off to record outlet in Thousand Oaks, it's still there, and they still have cheap records. I got Saint Vitus Born too late and another album in one double record collection for 10 bucks.

We have a show coming up on January 21st at the airliner through our friends from Earsplitters. More info coming soon.
